During November 2007, all business subscribers to Vidéotron’s voice mail will get an interface update that will make the service simpler to use. The migration will be completely transparent. No messages will be lost. Your greeting message and your personal identification number will remain the same. A notice will be or will have been left in the voice mail concerned a few days before the update.
The main upcoming improvements are as follows:
- Access to voice mail.
- In case of a wrong PIN, you will no longer need to redial your telephone number.
- Access is faster; you get your messages directly.
- Upon accessing your mail box, you will be informed of how many messages you have based on their status: urgent, new and/or saved.
- New rapid-prompt mode. If you are familiar with voice mail, you will like rapid prompts a lot, because of the precious time they can save you. From the main menu, press 4-2-3-2. The message order will be announced (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.).
- Variable message playback. You can speed up or slow down message playback. Press 8-3 a few times to make it faster or 8-2 to go back to normal speed. Press 8-1 a few times to slow down. Speed control applies only to the current message.
- Skipping a message without modifying it. If you want to skip to the next message, press #. The current message will remain unchanged. This is especially convenient to replay an important message first when you next access your voice mail.
- Listen to the last 10 seconds of a message by pressing 1. Simply press 1 to play the message again.
- At each access, you will hear all the messages stored in your voice mail by status: urgent, new and stored messages.
- Once a message is deleted, you will not be able to listen to it again. Pressing 7 deletes messages permanently.
- Standardizing the * and # prompts. The star key (*) cancels, rewinds or deletes (depending on the context). The pound key (#) accepts, confirms or skips to the next (depending on context too).
If you press the* twice, the voice mail returns to the main menu and gives the details.
Other new features:
- You can leave yourself a message simply by dialling your telephone number from your set. An easy way to remember important things!
- You can access your voice mail by dialling your telephone number and pressing "1" during the playback of your greeting message. Then just enter your PIN to access your messages.
- You can more efficiently send a message to another Vidéotron subscriber via the system. From the main menu, press 2, then follow the steps. The system will confirm right from the beginning whether you can send a message to this subscriber.
