Do I have to contact my former telephone company to cancel my subscription with them?
If you have kept the same telephone number, the subscription with your former provider ended automatically when your service was migrated to the Vidéotron network.
However, if you have asked or want a new telephone number to replace the old one, you must contact your former provider immediately to let them know you have switched to a new one.
Your other services (e.g. Internet) will continue to work, and you must contact your current service provider if you want to terminate your service.
Do I have to give notice that I have changed telephone service provider?
No, not if you have kept the same telephone number. If you haven't, you must notify all your contacts. Local telephone service providers generally offer one free month of call referral (a message indicating your new number).
If you have kept the same telephone number, there is no need to let your alarm company know that you have changed telephone service provider.
Can I dial 911?
Yes. The 911 emergency service works the same way as with the traditional telephone network. Note that the 911 service monthly charges are included in the basic business line rate. They are not additional, as with certain competitors.
Is this what is known as "Internet telephony"?
No. Vidéotron telephone service does not go through the Internet. Cable telephony goes through Vidéotron's private network just like other traditional local telephone service providers.
Will you be hooking up my telephone system?
If you have an interconnector, we recommend that you have it do the hook-up. If you do not have an interconnector, we can connect your Business lines to your system. This service is included with basic installation.
